In a competitive market place, being able to maximise data throughput whilst minimising internal bottlenecks is key to the productivity and profitability of all organisations.

Below are a number of brief examples of components used to assist in this aim:

Data Capture & Validation

Irrelevant of the solution or process, humans make mistakes - and because of this, the ability to minimise and even eradicate these mistake is a must.

Wherever humans enter data there is always a requirement for data validation; be that from simple checks to ensure a phone number only contains numbers, to the ability to perform complex data queries using predetermined criteria.

"Rubbish in, rubbish out!"

Process Alerts & Prompts

Your job is to order new stock each time one of the 5,000 items falls below its minimum threshold, or you have to accept or reject holiday requests whenever they are submitted.  Let's make the system tell you when these criteria are met - you don't need to keep checking.

End-users should not be checking if something has happening, the system should be informing the people who need to know, whenever they need to know it.

Through a combination of screen and application pop-ups, auto-generated e-mails, tasks and appointments - the overall workflow of an organisation is improved.

Activity Monitoring & Audit Trail

Being able to track internal events is paramount to many organisations, particularly within the financial and legal profession.

Was an invoice raised? Who changed the client's address? When did we receive the last payment? - the implementation of activity monitoring services will capture and present all required data and event triggers throughout the system.

From the ability to see who is doing what, to being able to retrieve an audit of all activity on a client account.  Total visibility to whoever needs it, when they need it.

Common User Experience

Getting the most out of employees and end-users is sometimes simply down to providing a user experience they are confident with, and one they are used to.

As internal IT solutions become more and more complicated, so does the end-user interface and experience.  By integrating the environment, and delivering a customised front-end - internal users can have a direct impact on interface design, assisting in breeding satisfaction and confidence.

Data Islands

Fundamental to the efficiency of all organisations is being able to eradicate 'data islands'.  This is the storing of data, information or knowledge by a group or individual outside of the corporate accepted business process.

This is most prominent in larger companies, whereby personnel save data to their own private files (spreadsheets, documents) to assist them perform their own particular jobs.  Although usually done with good intentions, doing this can mean inconsistencies in data, a lack of knowledge sharing and process bottlenecks.

For example, David in 'Project Management' likes to keep his own project budgeting figures in a spreadsheet on his laptop, rather than use the preferred method of saving to the network server.  Whilst on holiday or off sick, these figures are required urgently - no one is aware that David stores this information locally and has not been updating the networked data, therefore they take outdated figures and base important decision on invalid information - which can prove costly.

There are many organisations where this takes place - minimising it, wherever possible, will deliver major improvements to internal communication and visibility.

Report & Data Presentation

Many organisations are frustrated by their inability to retrieve the data they are looking for and in the format they wish to see it.

Often, organisations have captured the data within their systems, but are unable to retrieve it and manipulate it through a single integrated solution.

Storing stock levels in one system, with the values of each product located in another, can require complicated and long winded processing to retrieve information such as the value of all stock items, in real-time.  This should not be the case and does not need to be the case.
